Nielsen highlights gaming handheld / iOS overlap | The Appside

Here?s a stat that should be giving Sony and Nintendo serious pause for thought: 66% of US households with kids aged 6-12 that own a Nintendo DS or Sony PSP also have at least one Apple iOS device. That?s according to Nielsen?s latest survey, anyway. The interesting question being will those children want a next-generation 3DS or PS Vita, or an iPod touch / iPad? The survey also finds that 6% of US consumers play across console, computer and mobile/tablet, while 24% play across two of those platforms. Meanwhile, Android gaming ?peaks among adults 25-34 while iPhone gaming is distributed more evenly across age segments?.
